Hey everyone:
I can’t believe that the online premiere of The Poet and the Flea (November 28th, 2012) has come and gone already. But there’s plenty more to come!

I also wanted to share some of the kind words posted by my friends on Facebook:

Here is a brief update on my current creative projects and endeavors…!
In the midst of a horrible cold… (✖╭╮✖)
Friday, July 13th
- In the mail, finally received “Documentation of Registration” for Who is Laurence Harvey? and The Golden Curator from The Writers Guild of America, West.
Saturday, July 14th
- On Craigslist, have responded to a few posts about writing and creative projects. We’ll see how it goes…
Sunday, July 15th
- After a nerve-wracking wait, Who is Laurence Harvey? did not make it into the quarter finals of The 2012 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards. But I’m still happy that the screenplay made it into the second round (the top 25%). Now I have 6-8 more contests/competitions to hear back from in the coming months. Next up, The Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Competition Quarterfinal Round and the Film Independent Screenwriters Lab…
- Looking into The Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco, October 13-14. I think it’s too late to get a table, but I’d like to attend, schmooze, get some more information about the publishers I’m interested in, and possibly promote The Poet and the Flea a bit.
Tuesday, July 17th
- Responded to a Craigslist post about someone writing a graphic novel who’s looking for an artist/illustrator. Had some e-mail correspondence with her. Planning to meet on Tuesday (24th). Looking forward to it!
Wednesday, July 18th
- Craigslist, craigslist, craigslist…
- Applied to The American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest! Information updated on “Applications” post, here.
Thursday, July 19th
- Added behind-the-scenes images to my (almost-but-not-quite-forgotten) Pinterest: pinterest.com/gegallas.
- Slowly but surely working on the-poet-and-the-flea.tumblr.com.
Friday, July 20th
- Craigslist, craigslist, craigslist…
Saturday, July 21th
- Attended The Pixel-Flick TV Actor/Filmmaker Alliance’s first meeting. Thought it went very well! The producer/director/CEO of Pixel Flick Entertainment, Brian Stephens, sounds like he has a lot of experience and knows what he’s talking about. He’s organizing this alliance to facilitate filmmakers in the Bay Area and showcase their work. Seems like a wonderful opportunity!
Monday, July 23rd
- Took care of some important e-mails today.
Tuesday, July 24th
- My meeting with the graphic novel author Shannon Brady went really well. I think her concept is really intriguing and she’s very passionate about the topic. I think this is going to be a successful collaboration!
Etcetera
- The Poet and the Flea: 37 pages of written script (1 page of script = 4-6 illustrated pages), and about 36 pages (1-12, 14, 16, 21 completed, and 13, 15, 17-20, 22-36 in progress) of illustrated work.
- Considering developing my short story entitled “Inside the Display Case” (about a Siberian pit viper named Peter) into a graphic novel.
- Developing a new short film script called Death of the Poet.
- Stumbled upon an idea for a children’s book…
- My third full-length screenplay called The Modern Prometheus is currently resting on the back burner temporarily.
To Do:
- Sign up with IMDbPro.
- Apply to the Bluecat Screenplay Competition (before October 15th).
- Begin work on character sketches for Shannon!

Here is a brief update on my current creative projects and endeavors…!
These past few weeks have been quite the roller coaster…! (⊙□ ⊙;)ノ
Sunday, June 30th
- Through Meetup.com, discovered The Pixel-Flick TV Actor/Filmmaker Alliance (Pixel Flick Entertainment). It seems like this production company is interested in producing short films and web series. Will attend the first meeting on Saturday, July 21st.
- On Stage32.com, received a very nice personal message from Ben Cahan (the creator of Final Draft) inviting me to join his website Talentville.com. I created an account there, but I’m not ready to post my work yet (perhaps after I hear from all the contests I applied to?).
Monday, July 9th
- Robots Are a Girl’s Best Friend: Unfortunately, have hit some snags and the project is on hold.
- My full-length screenplay Who is Laurence Harvey? has advanced to the Second Round (the top 25%) of The 2012 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards!!!!!!!!!
- On Craigslist, have responded to a few posts about writing and creative projects. We’ll see how it goes…
Tuesday, July 10th
- The Poet and the Flea: 37 pages of written script (1 page of script = 4-6 illustrated pages), and about 36 pages (1-10, 21 completed, and 11-20, 22-36 in progress) of illustrated work.
- A special announcement about The Poet and the Flea coming soon!
- Thinking of adding a “Links”page and a “Special Thanks” page to thepoetandtheflea.wordpress.com.
- Slowly but surely working on the-poet-and-the-flea.tumblr.com.
- Continuing to help fellow screenwriter/filmmaker Jay Dial. I’ve read his script so far, and I think it has a lot of potential!
- Signed up with gotcast.com (www.gotcast.com/gegallas)… maybe I’ll find some more writing gigs this way?
Etcetera
- My wonderful and talented friend just released the first promotional image from her upcoming webcomic… it looks stunning! Check it out: http://tealeaves9.tumblr.com/post/27095942591/at-long-last-the-first-promotional-image-for-my.
- Bit by bit, working on my third full-length screenplay called The Modern Prometheus. The process has involved a lot of historical research about San Francisco. Every screenplay is a learning process!
- I’m thinking about compiling a list of comic book-related (more on the small press side?) conventions for future reference. I would love to attend some local ones (Bay Area, California, etc.?) in the near future. And perhaps eventually fly out to other conventions. Any suggestions?
- A while back, I created a facebook page (www.facebook.com/gegallas)… don’t forget to like me!
- Also, a tremendous thanks to all of my followers here on WordPress and on Twitter!!

- Had a wonderful weekend (May 31st – June 4th) in San Francisco with friends Ariel and Olivia!
- Visited the Legion of Honor to see The Cult of Beauty: The Victorian Avant-Garde 1860-1900. Quite an amazing exhibit. Featured the artwork of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Aubrey Beardsley, etc. Also, very much enjoyed the Victorian Home Walk. I believe both experiences will help my writing.
- Robots Are a Girl’s Best Friend: Currently in progress!
- The Poet and the Flea: As of Thursday, 28 pages of written script (1 page of script = 4-6 illustrated pages), and about 28 pages (1-6 completed, and 6-28 in progress) of illustrated work.

- No word yet from Playground Pictures. Monday, sent e-mail in response to ghostwriter gig on Craigslist. Tuesday, sent e-mail in response to Japanese language tutor gig on Craigslist. Waiting for responses.
- Continuing research on various production companies to send query letters to.
- Tuesday, signed up with meetup.com. Joined a bunch of interesting groups. Hopefully, I’ll meet some new friends and learn the city!
