Cannes/London 2013: Sunday, May 12th

I finally arrived in Frankfurt, only to stay for a few fleeting moments.

The man I spoke to at customs/immigration seemed very excited that my final destination is the Cannes Film Festival. He said he had spoke to a group from MGM previously and wondered if I was with them. So funny!

From the sky, the little German towns look like Monopoly pieces – all little houses, white with red roofs. Then, we flew over the Alps, one snow-covered peak after another with little streams in between. Now, I’m not 100% sure where we are, but we’ll be in Nice soon.

To my surprise, they served sandwiches on the way to Nice: “weizenmischbrötchen mit Gouda,” dark bread with seeds and soft gouda cheese. So much better than the horrible food on the first leg. There’s even more wiggle room on this far smaller plane.

The clouds have been very beautiful all along the way — huge, puffy, and monsterous. Some of the mountains have zebra stripes.

Now we’re having a bit of turbulence, and if I’m not careful, I’ll get sick!

Finally arrived in Cannes. Exhausted!

Got to know roommates Mary and Jacqueline as well as other program members a bit.

Our room has a beautiful view of the sea from the balcony.

Time to take a shower and go to sleep.

Early and busy day tomorrow!
