Although I was skeptical beforehand, I had an absolute blast at DC Zinefest! I sold way more than I ever imagined I would and I met so many awesome people.
I sat next to Santiago “Santi” Casares (Chili’s World), who was wonderful! We chatted through the whole event and looked after each other’s tables. I even picked up one of his mini-comics to add to my zine collection. 🙂 Santi also told me about DC Conspiracy and Magic Bullet, both of which I’d love to get involved with.
Jonas (Bad Liver and A Broken Heart, Cheer The Eff Up) sat on my other side — he seemed like a DC Zinefest celebrity!!! I didn’t talk to him until the very end, but he was really great and we even exchanged zines. Can’t wait to take a look at his work!
Surprisingly, Ramsey Beyer (Little Fish) was there. I thought I would see her at SPX since I saw her there last year, but there she was. And it turns out she won’t be at SPX this year, so I’m glad to have seen her.
It was awesome meeting Robert Mitchell Jr. 😀 He writes fiction and draws comics, but is also into martial arts! He also gave me a bunch of his zines including a 44-page comic called Cabal Fang, in which he combines all of his interests. I’m excited to take a closer look!
C.S. Malerich of The 13th Faery, who I met earlier this year at the Smudge Comics Arts Expo, was tabling for the first time. I was very excited to get my hands on a copy of The 13th Faery’s first zine Raiders from the North, or From Eeeeeek to Zut! You can also check out her work at csmalerich.com.
I can’t wait to do DC Zinefest 2015!!!
